The biggest factor that we need to pay attention to when determining the product to be applied on garage doors is the number of times the door will operate, how many vehicles will be in the garage or the daily entry-exit circulation.
For example, if the garage in question belongs to your detached house and it uses a maximum of 2 or 3 vehicles, you can choose a more affordable automatic motorized shutter instead of a sectional garage door. However, if we are talking about 10-15 or more vehicles, automatic shutters will be insufficient and it will be beneficial to switch to more professional solutions.
The main criterion that determines the product to be preferred is the heating of the motor system used in the automatic motorized shutter and the motor-spring combination of the sectional door at different times. Automatic shutter motors are designed for 4-5 opening-closing operations per day, and they generally heat up in use exceeding 4-6 minutes, as a result of which the thermal control works (thermal evacuation) to prevent damage to the motor. Sectional doors and industrial doors move with engine plus spring support; Sectional doors with 24 volt DC motor structures can serve 100+/turns per day, industrial doors can serve 200+/days with 380 volt three-phase motors and reducer system.
As a third option, we have been talking about DC motors in automatic shutters for the last two years. The main preference point of these motors is the control of parking lots with a maximum capacity of 15-20 vehicles or places we can describe as medium-circulation in architectural situations where bedding is not possible for the sectional door. Being self-powered is a great advantage, and the lack of an external manual opening system is also a disadvantage.
The fourth option is 380 volt three-phase motors. These engines, referred to as Boxster, offer a power range of 150NM-500NM and provide trouble-free service without the need for spring support. The initial installation costs are very high, but it is a logical choice in the long run with its stable operation and maintenance-free operation for a long time.
